No. Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, 2026. Because regular Social Security payments are issued on Wednesdays (September 9, 16, and 23), funds are processed and deposited on their standard scheduled dates without delay.
The Social Security Administration typically announces the official COLA in the second week of October, immediately after the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the September Consumer Price Index (CPI-W) report.
If your scheduled payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a designated federal banking holiday, your funds are deposited on the immediate preceding business day. For example, if the 1st of the month lands on a Sunday, your SSI payment is deposited on the preceding Friday.
Standard Social Security payment dates are determined entirely by your day of birth. Born 1st-10th = 2nd Wednesday; Born 11th-20th = 3rd Wednesday; Born 21st-31st = 4th Wednesday. In addition, recipients of SSI or claims filed prior to May 1997 follow separate fixed-date guidelines.
Direct deposit can be established through your online 'my Social Security' account at ssa.gov, or by calling the SSA toll-free at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). You can also sign up for the Direct Express prepaid debit card if you do not have a bank account.
The SSA advises waiting three business days before reporting a missing or delayed payment to account for banking clearing processing. If three business days have passed, check with your bank first, then contact the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.

Never. We only use your day of birth to determine which Wednesday of the month applies. We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, SSN, bank details, or address.
Yes. Click 'Add to Calendar + Reminder' on the main calculator to download an .ICS file. When imported into Google, Apple, or Outlook Calendar, it sets a reminder 2 days before every payment.
When the 1st of the upcoming month lands on a weekend or holiday, the SSA sends the payment on the last business day of the prior month. You receive two payments in that prior month and none the following month. The total annual amount remains identical.
If you receive both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security retirement/disability, your SSI is deposited on the 1st of the month and your Social Security is deposited on the 3rd of the month.
